Following months of rehearsals after school , at weekends and even during the holidays, the show Musical Madness took to the stage in Summerhill College on 22nd January and continued for three nights with matinees during the day for the local primary schools.
Audiences were delighted with the amazing talent on stage in song,dance and acting.Over 80 students took part with solo and group numbers from musicals such as Les Miserables, Annie, Grease, Toy Story, Jesus Christ Superstar,Hairspray to name but a few. musical Director was Ms McIntyre and Director was Mr Whelan assisted by Ms McIntyre and Ms Dufficy.Choreographer was by Steffen Jorgenson.Staff and pupils from both schools made up the pit singers and Niamh Walsh and Conor Bastille accompanied on piano.Sound and lighting was by Vinny Higgins.
The show was a great success and showed that the talent of the young people of Mercy College and Summerhill College goes from strength to strength with each show.
On the final night,Ms O Hagan and Mr Keogh praised the students for their energy and engagement with the musical and thanked everyone involved in any way with such a superb production.
