Mercy College students celebrated Mercy Day with a mass for the opening of the Academic Year in St Anne’s church celebrated by Fr Lombard. The choir sang under the direction of Ms McIntyre and accompanied by Leonard Dorrian. Irish traditional musicians played and students did the readings and prayers of the faithful.Gifts representing the school life were presented at the Offertory.
Following the mass an awards ceremony was held in Mercy College and prefects and deputy prefects for the forthcoming year were announced as well as the student council and Green school members. The Head girl Cliodhna Jordan and deputy-head girl Eadaoin Kinsella then addressed the students advising them to avail of the opportunities presented to them in Mercy College and to develop their talents and skills.Ms O Hagan then addressed the students and wished them all well in their studies and in the school and advised them to show respect to each other at all times.
