Aonad Loch Gile Official Opening

The official opening of Aonad Loch Gile took place on Friday December 1st.The opening was performed by Minister for the Gaeltacht and Rural Affairs Joe McHugh T.D. Marian Harkin M.E.P. , Tony McLoughlin T.D. And Eamon Scanlon T.D. were also in attendance as well as members of the committee who had campaigned for the all Irish secondary school over the past number of years.

As part of the European Parliament Ambassador Schools Programme,Marian Harkin visited the school to speak on the EU . She outlined the role of the Commission, the Council of Ministers and the Parliament as well as discussing the possible implications of Brexit with special reference to the Border areas.

The choir sang under the direction of Leonard Dorrian in the Hawk's Well Theatre on Saturday evening, having rehearsed diligently over the past two months.

Congratulations to TY student Eve Lunn who qualified to represent the North West at a Euroscola in the European Parliament in Strasbourg in 2018. Eve was interviewed in Sligo by a panel organised by Sligo Rotary Club and subsequently represented the Sligo Branch at the next round in Dungannon, where she was selected to travel to Strasbourg.This is a prestigious award as students not only get the chance to visit Stormont and the Dail but also to meet with their peers from all over Europe , in what is deemed to be an unforgettable experience by previous prize winners from the school.
