CanSat 2017 at Sligo I.T.

Transition Year students Carol Ann Monaghan,Niamh Kerr, Kellie Devaney, Ellen Armstrong, Amy Cullen and Emma Mc Caffrey took part in a competition to build a satellite to measure air pressure and temperature. The project was carried out in conjunction with Sligo I.T. and under the direction of their Science and Technology teacher Mr Hanbury.The students launched the satellite yesterday and made a Powerpoint presentation to the judges. They now proceed to the National Finals in Laois on April 27th.W3e congratulate them and wish them well in the final of the competition.

Congratulations to Niamh Kerr whose work  was selected to be professionally framed and exhibited in the National Gallery of Ireland based on the All Ireland  competition Imagining the  Ireland  of 2016. The exhibition opens on April 6th at 2 pm in the Millennium Wing  Atrium Space.

Hennessey Literary Prize Winner

Congratulations to Una Mannion of Sligo I.T. who has just  won the Hennessey Prize for Emerging Poetry. Una has worked closely with Mercy College in Drama and Creative Writing workshops and has inspired students with her creativity.

Irish Lady Rugby Player visits school.

Nicole Fowley from the Irish Ladies Rugby team visited the school today to display the trophy won by the team and to speak on the value of playing Sports and being a team player.
