Primary school students have been attending classes in Mercy College before and after Christmas where they sample Technology, Science, Modern Languages and P.E. The courses are well attended and are a help towards the Transition between Primary and Secondary school.
Art students visited the Hamilton Gallery to study the exhibition and do drawings based on it. They also visited the Niland Gallery and took part in a guided tour of the permanent Art Collection as part of their Leaving Cert. course.
The TYs and 5th years attended a road safety display in Sligo Sports Complex, where front line agents outlined the sad facts related to young lives lost in road accidents every year through speeding and dangerous or reckless driving. It was a very graphic illustration of this sad fact and gave us all a lot of food for thought.
Thanks to Majorcan native Felipe Carbonell who visited the Spanish classes and sang some typical Spanish songs for Ms Rooney’s classes. He also met our Spanish exchange students.
All classes and year groups prepared Christmas Hampers for Sligo Social Services. These were presented by the students to Sligo Social Services during our annual Carol Service.
